SECTION 2 WEAVER CREEK The Weaver Creek Section begins at the trail head at the East Bay River bridge on Hwy 87, which is three miles north of the Navarre Visitor Center on US 98, Hwy 87 intersection. This trail head offers the only parking space on this trail section. Follow the orange blazes and a little further the trail enters Eglin Air Force property. From the parking lot the trail traverses Eglin property for ,13.5 miles, crossing Hwy 87 once on its way until it reaches the Yellow River bridge. More information can be found on the Florida Trail data book pages. A primitive campsite is located at south to north way point 20.8. A second site, called Buck Pond is located at way point 31.1. The trail has several interesting features. Not far north of the Hwy 87 crossover you reach the headwaters of Weaver Creek. There there is a blue blazed 0.9 mile side trail that descends to a steephead with numerous springlets. Further north the trail passes several white banded longleaf pines.
